Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite Review

The Samsung galaxy Tab 3 Lite is basically a lighter version of the former full Galaxy Tab 3. It has features which are common with the Tab 3 and some of them being removed to fit its name. What is so different from the full Tab 3 is that it is slimmer and more portable.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite review features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with a 7-inch and 1,024 x 600 pixel density display. It has a 2 megapixel camera at the rear, 1 GB of RAM memory, 8 GB of storage and a microSD card slot that can take up to 32 GB of external storage. It also features Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, 3G and 2G connectivity and an amazing 3, 600mAh of battery power that can last up to 8 hours of video playback when fully charged.

Design

With dimensions of 116.4 x 193.4 x 9.7 mm, we notice that the galaxy Tab 3 Lite review features a slightly taller and wider Android device than its predecessor galaxy Tab 3 7.0. It is also thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Tab 3.

It lacks the soft leather-like feel at the back that is experienced on its predecessor but still has a nice texture feel. It has a flat back and curved edges around the front. The sides are rounded so as to give the user a perfect grip making it a very comfortable device to hold in a single hand. It features a rear camera with 2 megapixels and has a home key and off-screen capacitive buttons. This tablet comes in variants of cream white and dark Gray. Some however are in a white front and turquoise or cyan rear while others have been seen in robin egg blue as well.

Display

With Galaxy Tab 3 Lite review in terms of display we notice the lowest resolution on a tablet like Alcatel, Dell, Huawei and some other less known brands. It has a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels which can do a great job for an affordable device like the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite but with the 170 pixel density makes this device quite unimpressive. It may be perfect on the hand as it is smaller than ordinary tablets.

On the other side, display test can reveal that the 7.0 inch display does not match the quality of a device of this calibre. It has good blacks at 50% brightness but deteriorates quickly at higher levels. It has good brightness but poor contrast. It features TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite uses a Marvell PXA986 chip with 1200 MHz Dual-core processing unit in this review. It also has 1 GB RAM memory with 8 GB internal storage and a slot for SD memory cards that is useful to gamers. It runs Touch Wiz-skinned Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which is the same in the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. It has the Vivante GC1000 GPU.

Cameras

The 2 MP camera on the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is capable of capturing still images of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels and VGA videos as well. It has a user-friendly interface with a virtual shutter button, effects, exposure shortcuts, settings and much more. With the GPS on, the Samsung Galaxy is capable of naming photos with your location thanks to the contextual file names option.

The VGA videos are stored in MP4 format with a bitrate north of 2500 Kbps, single audio channel with a 60 kbps bitrate with a sampling rate of 48 KHz and 23 fps framerate. It has great detail but not what to expect from such a tablet.

Audio

The audio reviews of Samsung Tab 3 include a loudspeaker and 3.5 mm audio jack minus a radio.

Battery

The Galaxy Tab 3 has a battery capacity of 3600mAh non-removable and can last up to 8 hours of web browsing. It can last up to 200 hours of music play.

Features

The tablet features some of basic connectivity features like Wi-Fi that covers 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct. It has the Bluetooth version 4.0 and the AllShare DLNA functionality that basically act as a standalone app that allow you to share and access content on nearby DLNA-enabled devices. It also has USB, GPS with Glonass and Accelerometer.

Conclusion

With these reviews, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is an attractive tablet, simple to use, portable and has a better battery life. In addition, it is cheaper compared to the latest tablet generation. However, there are couple of amazing devices on the same level that offer great features like the Lenovo Idea Tab A3000.
